bullet nose

quartic

The bullet nose can be constructed as follows:
Given a hyperbola H, intersects every tangent with both x- and y-axis, giving points A and B respectively. Draw a line l through A parallel to the y-axis and a line m through B parallel to the x-axis. Then the intersection of lines l and m forms a point of the bullet nose.

The definition is a variation on the definition of the cross curve.

It was Schoute (1885) who first described the curve.
